Tabor City is a small town in Columbus County, NC, right at the South Carolina line. Buyers come here for lower prices, more land, and a slower pace, with Myrtle Beach and the NC beaches still within reach. I'm Danielle King, a REALTOR® with Realty ONE Group Dockside, licensed in NC and SC. Here's what you should know before you buy in Tabor City.
Tabor City is in Columbus County, North Carolina. It is not in Brunswick County. The county seat, Whiteville, is about 25 minutes north.
Tabor City sits in southeastern North Carolina on US-701, just north of the South Carolina state line near Loris, SC.
The median home sale price in Tabor City was about $234,880 in recent data, down about 2% from a year earlier. Homes averaged about 111 days on the market, so buyers often have room to negotiate. That's well below prices in the beach towns of Brunswick County and the Grand Strand.

You'll find older homes near downtown, single-family homes on larger lots, some new construction, and land. Some homes outside town use well water or septic. I check utilities, flood zone, and any deed restrictions for every property before you make an offer.
Tabor City hosts the North Carolina Yam Festival each October, with a parade, food, and events downtown. The town also has Lake Tabor, a small historic Main Street, and local restaurants.
Homes inside town limits pay both the Columbus County rate and the Town of Tabor City rate. Homes outside town limits pay the county rate plus any fire district fees. Rates can change each year, so I pull the current rate for the exact address you're considering.
Some low areas near creeks and swamps can hold water in heavy storms. Check the flood zone for every address and get an insurance quote during due diligence. I pull the flood zone for you.
